When you have the top people in the community assume or make up rumors that people tend to be facts, the community most likely will follow towards that direction and aid them. Scientists in the past have made a theory that African Americans are inferior by the measuring their skulls. Everyone believed the theory and thought to be true due the lack of intelligence African Americans had. This made sure that the science of discourse community was able to show evidence that white people were obviously more superior. The multiliteracies during that time period needed to the whites to know they were superior and the blacks to be inferior.
